Oh blogs
mark making, take the pressure off

A pro-create doodle
The struggle is real for consistency and me, and blogs or any type of social media. It’s the same with journaling too though. This will be a quick one.
I have been playing with oil paints lately. I get it. It’s lovely for blending. I don’t know if my ADHD will let me be patient enough with it in the long run. I literally have 20 paintings (quite small) on the go so I can do the rounds, waiting for them to dry enough for more layers.
I am in a tricky bit. I have been loving - and getting somewhere with my abstract mark-making colour studies as pictured above, but all of a sudden I am obsessed with the female in the image, or rather the representation of one. I’m not wanting to paint a female shape with any real reality more of a flat, graphic folk art style, dark browns and indigo tones so they feel like my heritage and family.
And my two references for my style experimentation change are both Michael McGrath https://mmcgrath.com/ and Kerry James Marshall https://jackshainman.com/artists/kerry_james_e
But I ain’t putting those experiments up anywhere yet. They are so bad. haha. But this is the gift of being a beginner in a new medium. It’s allowed to be…
I love these colours
